Polk County Juvenile Camp developed a 12-hour early intervention and prevention bootcamp for Florida children age 10-17 with behavioral problems. The military-based program called S.T.A.R. (Specialized Training And Respect) begins at 5:30 a.m. and ends at 5:30 p.m. and is held on the grounds of the court adjudicated Polk County Boot Camp in Bartow. While there, the children are treated as recruits by Polk County Juvenile Boot Camp Drill Instructors who are either certified law enforcement officers or corrections officers.
